Buying gifts – interesting gifts, unique gifts – for men can be a challenge for some people. But gifts for men need not be so difficult if we open up to imagination and courage – to imaginative gifts.
Obviously there are the usual gifts of deodorant, socks, ties, novels, sports books but when was the last time anyone bought a man a really nice belt? ... or flowers? Men love them both! Gifts for men don’t have to be things, either – how about some experiences:
For the do-it-yourselfer: along with the usual man-gifts of hand-saws, hammers, chisels, screwdrivers, socket sets and carpenter’s aprons, how about treating him to a night-class on car maintenance, home renovation or carpentry?
For the music buff: You can get him the usual musical gifts of CDs and CD racks but what about tickets to their favourite artist or a series of guitar, piano or singing lessons?
The petrol head: As well as the gifts of tools, car/bike accessories, driving/riding clothing, how about shouting him a day at the track to drive a racing or stock car? Or a glider ride or a flying lesson?
The bachelor: Yes, you can buy your man the gifts of shaving cream, mousse or alcohol but what about a facial treatment or a massage? You can buy him things for his home but what about a book or a course on Feng Shui so he can make it nicer, by himself?
The older man: As well as the usual man-gifts of golf balls, books, whisky and ties, how about some pampering – a facial or even a treatment with an Alexander Technique practitioner or a reflexologist?
Buying gifts for men can actually be fun. Go on, make your gifts for your men daring and memorable! And even if he doesn’t actually like the facial or the reflexology, he’ll be telling the story at the pub or the golf club for the rest of his life. Now is that the perfect gift for a man or what!!
